As you all may know, I took over the administration of the PAPAS forums a
few months ago with the intent of upgrading the forums and website, with
the goal of creating a more user friendly experience. However, most of the
time I had available to do these upgrades have been tied up fighting
automated spam accounts. In an effort to fight these and free up more time
for upgrades, and free up server resources, I am going to block all
accounts through gmail, as well as a few other free email hosts that are
notoriously easy for the spammers to crack and hijack accounts.

If your account is registered with a gmail, tmail, e-mail.net or
e-mail.com, please change your email address of record through the user
control panel no later than November 2nd, 2009. Any user with these email
addresses will loose access to PAPAS on the 2nd. I apologize for any
inconvenience, but to focus on growing the site and forum, I must make this
difficult move. If you have any questions, please PM me or see me during
the meeting this coming Sunday, the 1st.

Just to add a clarification, I discovered after the fact, I can exempt a gmail or other free account from the registration ban, but I need to know before you attempt to register with that email address. Contact me at the meeting before attempting to register with any free email address.
