I name-checked PAPAS, and GPASI, and Oddball, and Eric....

it's really weird hearing yourself online.....

I also noted how very UN-eloquent I am with talking.....

"uh....um......uh"

Let me correct that... Dave fell asleep halfway through! I listened to the whole thing! :-P

And seriously, that's really cool that you got to do an interview like that and we really do appreciate you mentioning the store! :)

lol, tell Dave that's okay as I would have done the same thing if not for me cringing every 'um' and 'ahhh' and 'errrr' I did.

I'd like to have a picture to post on APC under our forum to show the display tank if possible.....and we could pimp out the store and the meetings......Tim is such a slacker, I've asked him a dozen times to take a pic.....anyone have a camera and a trip to the store planned? :)

Well...we did listen at like 3 o'clock in the morning so I think his falling asleep has more to do with that!

I wouldn't worry too much about the um's. That kind of stuff is pretty informal and you seemed totally relaxed!

Tim was definitely not a slacker today! I'm sure that you will have your photo soon! :D

Okay... i finally had a chance today to listen to the whole thing (as well as the other podcasts... i really enjoyed Texgal... Tom Barr sounds like less of an arrogant prick than his posts would imply).

Overall, i enjoyed it. I was curious about your statements at the end of the interview, however. Specifically, you were talking about experimenting w/ different substrates and stuff... what all have you found out about that? what type of additives are you adding to a regular soil tank to enhance it? have you been experimenting more w/ the mineralized soil concept? what brand of soil have you used in making mineralized soil? i'm in the process now of setting up a tank again and would like to know what you've found out so far (maybe it can save me some time or money... *wink, wink*)...

lol, well it's a work in progress....once I get the automated system moved I'm hoping to set up a couple of planted tank aquariums.

The concept is to use the cheap, no-additives topsoil at home depot or lowes/hardware store, as well as a bunch of ingredients you can get easily or have laying around for the average aquarist, a cheap 'all-in-the-box' aquarium from a pet store, and convert it into a viable, well-aquascaped aquarium with little 'tweaking' for the planted tank. It's going to use DiY CO2 - which anyone has the ingredients in their house. I plan on making a journal of the adventure as well as an eventual presentation for GPASI (and PAPAS) out of it. I got some of the ideas from what we did with the display tank - using a UV filter for a week to prevent the inevitable green water.......

If you want to try it out now, get a submersible UV filter and get some topsoil, and you can do your own experimentation ;)
